For The Culture

Langston League’s For The Culture Program invites organizations to become pro-bono clients. We offer $8,000 worth of professional development and/or curriculum design to for-profit and non-profit organizations that are changing the education landscape for scholars and/or educators through engaging culturally responsive curriculum.

This year’s organization-in-residence is Elevated Expectations, a summer non-profit based in Brownsville, Brooklyn. Elevated Expectations is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization geared towards providing resources for inner city children and their families. Scholars spend nine hours, five days a week, for 6 weeks, gaining expansive exposure to music programs, health and nutrition initiatives, academic resources, as well as sports & recreational activities. Their founder, Jonas Rousseau, is a Brownsville native, experienced educator and advocate for youth.

This year, Langston League will design and implement an entrepreneurship workshop for scholars, train facilitators, and volunteer all summer long at Elevated Expectations.

Applications for 2019’s For the Culture Program will be open in November 2018.
